NomadPass needed a complete product design for their financial super-app targeting Africa's growing remote worker population — people who earn in global currencies, live across multiple countries, and need banking that moves with them.
What needed solving.
Existing fintech products assumed users lived in one country with one currency. NomadPass users operated across 6+ countries simultaneously, with complex tax, compliance, and FX needs that no existing product addressed. Most solutions treated 'global' as a feature, not the core design principle.
The thinking behind the work.
Three weeks of ethnographic research with 32 African remote workers across 8 cities — Lagos, Nairobi, Accra, Cape Town, Dakar, Abidjan, Kigali, and Cairo. We discovered the core tension: users felt financially 'stateless' — too globally mobile for local banks, too African for international neo-banks. We built around the concept of a 'financial home base' that travels with you, wherever you are.
What we built.
A complete product experience: multi-currency wallets grouped by geography, AI-powered expense categorisation for nomad-specific expenses, a compliance dashboard tracking tax residency rules across jurisdictions, and an identity system that works seamlessly across borders. The design system covers 55+ screens across iOS and Android.
The impact.
